Your security is very important to us
Your personal information is stored securely following best practice security recommendations. The information you provide through your Hub Dashboard, or via email, can only be accessed by personnel who have been granted permission to access your information.
All access to the Hub Dashboard is monitored, and personnel are trained in privacy and security. Personnel who access account information without authority can be subject to Code of Conduct proceedings under the Public Service Act 1999, and if a criminal
offence has been committed may be prosecuted and penalised.
While we actively protect the security of your account, we also recommend you are careful to maintain the security of your User Account by taking the precautions outlined in the following sections.
Report suspicious activities on your account
If you think someone has accessed your Hub Dashboard unlawfully or without your consent, notify us by using our Online enquiry form.
Protect your account
To protect access to your account you should:
- keep your User Account details secure at all times and do not share them with any other person;
- use a strong password that is easy for you to remember (but hard for others to guess). If you forget your password, select Forgot your password on the Innovation Hub sign in page and create a new one;
- avoid reusing passwords by choosing a password that you don’t use for any other online accounts;
- change your password regularly;
- protect your password and do not send it by email or SMS;
- always sign out of your User Account when you have finished by selecting Sign out from the dropdown list in the top right-hand corner of your page;
- check for the Extended Validation Certificate indicator in your browser’s address bar when accessing the Hub Dashboard. Each browser shows the Extended Validation Certificate in a different way (usually it is a green box or bar with a padlock icon).
Using computers in public locations
You should take extra steps to protect your account if you are using a computer in a public location to access your User Account, for example
- don’t let other people see your enter your password;
- always sign out of your User Account when you have finished using your account; and
- clear the browser cache, cookies and history after you have signed out of your User Account.
Protect your computer
Take steps to protect your computer, for example:
- install anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall and anti-spam security software and keep them up to date;
- run regular scans of your computer for viruses;
- keep your operating system up to date;
- only download files from trusted websites; and
- keep your internet browser up to date.
Protect against scams and hoaxes
There are many different types of scams and hoaxes; some include, email, phone, advance payment and investment. In these cases scammers pretend to be government departments. These third-party run scams are designed to maliciously gather personal information
for their own use.
It is important you protect your User Account information. The Department of Defence will never send you an email or SMS asking for your email address or password.
